CT Scans for Pets at Seven Oaks Pet Hospital, Hyderabad
Understanding Your Pet's Health with Advanced Imaging When your beloved pet is unwell or injured, identifying the root cause and severity swiftly is crucial. Advanced imaging methods like CT scans play a vital role in these scenarios. This technology, once not widely available for pets, is now increasingly recognized by veterinarians, including our team at Seven Oaks Pet Hospital, for its diagnostic value.
What is a CT Scan?
Computed tomography (CT), or a "cat scan," is a process where x-rays and a computer create multiple cross-sectional images of a body area. These slices, like puzzle pieces, are then reassembled into a complete picture. The CT scanner captures these two-dimensional slices and reconstructs them into a detailed image. These images can even be transformed into 3D models for precise surgical planning. A radiography specialist then analyzes and interprets these images.

Advantages of CT Scans for Pets
CT scans offer several benefits over traditional x-rays or ultrasounds:

-
Detailed Internal Views: CT scans provide in-depth internal views, essential for diagnosing various conditions, including cancers. At Seven Oaks, we use the CereTom® by NeuroLogica, capable of capturing 8 different image slices for detailed visualization.
-
3D Modeling: The CereTom® combines image slices into a 3D model, giving vets a clearer view of the affected area, aiding in accurate diagnosis and treatment.
-
Enhanced Surgical Planning: With realistic, comprehensive imaging, veterinarians can make more informed decisions during surgical procedures, leading to more precise and effective treatments.
CT Scan Procedure for Pets
The procedure for pets is similar to humans. Pets should fast before the scan, and once at our facility, they will be prepared and anesthetized for the procedure. The scanning process is quick, painless, and typically lasts around 30 minutes. Including preparation and recovery, expect the entire process to take about 45 minutes.
